Dry Needling

Dry Needling is used on myofascial trigger points to relax tight muscle fibres therefore easing pain & improving function. A trigger point, also known as a knot in the muscle, is a group of muscle fibres, which have shortened when activated but have not been able to lengthen back to a relaxed state after use. Dry needling restores the muscle’s ability to lengthen and shorten by increasing the blood flow to the area therefore providing those fibres with fresh oxygen and nutrients, as well as by flushing away any additional acidic chemicals; this therefore enables these trigger points to be released.
